Not My Eyes is a fictional story and mixed media project using both photography and audio as means to tell a story. Not My Eyes follows a jaded and alcoholic detective as he takes on his most chilling case yet. In a world without hope the detective looks for an unknown killer that has been terrorizing the people. Committed to catching this criminal, the detective pushes himself to his limits in hopes of stopping this faceless killer. The journey is split into three parts being The detective, The body, and The dream. These three sections are identified by differing styles each having their own look and feel. The story goes from a noir style detective to a body horror-esque breakdown of the human subject. Through portraits, still life, light photography, and long exposure shots, we see the narrative unfold and find out the truth about the detective and the crimes he investigates so passionately. This project aims to capture the inner and exterior conflicts of the detective by mixing the photography with audio. The detective’s logs follow the detective and help get a greater understanding of not only what is happening, but also how it is impacting the detective.
